Terms of Service
1. Agreement
By installing or using Rules Arbiter (“the app”) you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. The app is operated by James Hawkes (“we”, “us”). Contact: rulesarbiter@gmail.com.
2. What the app does
Rules Arbiter answers questions about the Dungeons & Dragons 5th-edition rules. Answers are generated by an artificial-intelligence model and are grounded in excerpts from the official System Reference Document (SRD), which are cited with each answer.
3. Not official; intellectual property
Rules Arbiter is an independent, unofficial tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved by Wizards of the Coast. Dungeons & Dragons and D&D are trademarks of Wizards of the Coast.
The app includes material from the System Reference Document 5.1 and 5.2 by Wizards of the Coast LLC, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. The app’s own text, design, and code are our property.
4. AI-generated answers — no reliance
Answers are produced by an AI model. They may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, and they may misread the rules or the SRD excerpts. Rules Arbiter is a reference aid for entertainment, not an authority. It does not replace the official rulebooks or the judgement of the person running your game, whose ruling is final. Always check the cited SRD text yourself. You use the answers at your own discretion.
5. Your account
- Signing in past the free trial uses your Google account. You are responsible for keeping that account secure.
- You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to create an account.
- One account per person. Do not share an account.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account, or on the account-deletion page.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the app to generate content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit involving minors, or otherwise prohibited by Google Play’s policies;
- attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or authentication;
- access the app by automated means, scrape it, or resell access to it;
- interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
You can flag an answer you believe breaches these standards with “Report this answer” in the app.
7. Free trial, tiers, and payment
The app offers a limited number of free questions without signing in, a free tier with a monthly allowance after signing in, and a paid subscription with a larger monthly allowance for £2.99 per month or £24.99 per year (or the equivalent in your local currency, as shown by Google Play).
Paid subscriptions, where offered, are sold and billed through Google Play. Payment, renewal, price changes, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Google Play under its own terms; manage or cancel a subscription in the Google Play app. We do not process or store card details. Except where the law or Google Play’s policies require otherwise, payments are non-refundable. Allowances and limits may change; we will not reduce a paid allowance you are currently paying for without notice.
8. Availability and changes
We provide the app on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it, and we may suspend or terminate access for a serious or repeated breach of these Terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under your statutory rights as a consumer (which these Terms do not affect).
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: we exclude all warranties not expressly set out here; we are not liable for loss arising from reliance on an answer, from interrupted or unavailable service, or for loss that was not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the app; and we are not liable for any loss of profit, revenue, business, business interruption, or business opportunity (the app is for personal use).
Subject to the first paragraph of this section, our total liability to you for all claims arising in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of (a) the total fees you paid us for the app in that period and (b) £100.
10. Privacy
Our handling of your data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in your country of residence.
